Johann König, Berlin is pleased to announce that Katharina Grosse is represented by the gallery as of the beginning of 2012. At this year’s Gallery Weekend Berlin she will present her first exhibition comprising a site specific, large-scale installation and a series of new paintings.
With Katharina the gallery program is expanded by yet another significant position, which is characterized by a distinctive visual approach and a forceful appropriation of space. Like the work of many other artists of the gallery program also Katharina’s work is experienced through an absolute and inclusive physical presence that changes our everyday perceptions.
Katharina's work has been presented to a wide audience in solo exhibitions at such prestigious institutions as the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art, North Adams; the Palais de Tokyo, Paris; the De Appel Center for Contemporary Art, Amsterdam; the New Museum, Nuremberg, Germany; the Kunstmuseum Bonn, Germany and the Lenbachhaus, Munich.
In addition, her installations and spray works have been shown worldwide in various group exhibitions and biennials and are represented in numerous public and private collections. Among them are the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Kunsthaus Zurich or in Germany the Art Collection NRW, Düsseldorf.
